Loss Prevention & Workplace Safety

As outlined in NMAC 1.6.4, each state agency is required to promote workplace safety and implement loss prevention measures. Our office supports this effort by helping agencies identify risks, reduce injuries, and develop a safety-conscious culture through training, assessments, and partnership.

What is Loss Prevention?

Loss prevention is the proactive effort to reduce risks thatcould result in employee injuries, property damage, or workplace disruptions. Our office collaborates with agencies to:

  • Prevent slips, trips, and falls
  • Improve ergonomic practices
  • Reduce incident rates and exposure
  • Strengthen agency safety programs

Designating a Loss Prevention Coordinator

To comply with NMAC 1.6.4, each agency must designate a LossPrevention Coordinator (LPC) to serve as the primary contact for safety-related efforts. A formal designation letter or memo from agency leadership is required and must be submitted to our office. This ensures we have an official point of contact for all loss prevention communication and coordination.

Please send designation letters to:
